Pastoral Announcement: Saturday, May 23rd

Pastor Rich says: Dear friends, as many of you are aware, President Trump announced yesterday that churches are “essential”, and that he strongly encouraged all governors to allow churches to open up. This is of course encouraging news!

As the Elders and I have prayed and deliberated what is best for us, I can tell you the following things:

  1. June 14th is the target Sunday for a soft open gathering. Of course, this will be a process as different people are ready to gather again at different times, and we don’t expect full attendance immediately.
  2. We will be taking the CDC recommendations into consideration, as well as state and local government responses and the overall state of affairs regarding COVID-19 leading up to and through June 14th.
  3. Certain new considerations of cleanliness and social distancing will be observed, including: parking flow, building sanitization, hand sanitizer, areas for social distancing as well as family seating, separate entrance/exit routes for those wishing to observe stricter distances practices, and encouragement of face coverings.
  4. A “hard open” gathering of our church, which will include the Lord’s Supper during the service and a communal meal following it, is still in the planning stages but with no definitive date as of yet. We look forward to the fuller participation in worship this will bring as concerns regarding COVID-19 are minimized over the coming weeks and months.

Of course, we will continue to keep everyone up-to-date with any additional information and changes as they are made available or put into effect. Please continue to pray for our church family and this wonderful time of reunion coming soon!
